The Nigeria Police Service Commission has commended the FCT Administration for setting up a Ministerial Task Force to sanitise Federal Capital City, Abuja.
Accordingly, this action has gone a long way to making the City a condusive place for all Nigerians to live, work and do business.
The Head of Press and Public Relations of the Commission, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, made this commendation at the Corporate Headquarters
of the Commission in Jabi District, Abuja, while speaking to Abuja Digest.
He said that the task of having a decent and save city comparable to best cities in the World is a collective responsibility of all.
Ani, was particularly happy with the clean up of Jabi District and its environs, because shanties, abandoned vehicles, tyres, refuse and illegal structures, which harbour criminals and those who indulge in illegal activities were removed thereby restoring sanity in the area.
His words:”What Development Control is doing is amazing, as the neighborhood including our organization has benefited immensely from the clean up of the area.”
He added that the Police Service Commission is constitutionally empowered to appoint, promote and carry out disciplinary control over officers of the Nigeria Police Force, which means we are in the area of security, when there are shanties and illegal structures that harbour criminals, we would feel insecured in the neighbourhood but with what the Ministerial Task Force are doing, one can get relaxed; knowing that there is no hiding place where people can do harm.
He, thus, enjoined Police Officers, who are part of the Ministerial Task Force to be diligent in the discharge of their duties and play by the rules to ensure overall success of the assignment.
