The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday appeared before the Senate to defend the proposed 2025 budget for the FCT.

This follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s submission of a ₦1.78 trillion budget estimate for the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to the National Assembly.

During the session, Wike is expected to provide details on how the funds will be used to drive infrastructural development, improve public services, and complete ongoing projects within the territory.

According to government officials, the 2024 FCTA budget will remain in effect until the end of June 2025, allowing a longer window for implementation and completion of capital projects.

The budget defence is a key step in the legislative approval process and offers lawmakers a chance to review and scrutinize proposed spending plans for the FCT.
