New Agriculture Secretary Abdullahi Ango Charges Staff on Renewed Commitment and Efficiency

Abdullahi Ango, the newly appointed Mandate Secretary of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has urged staff to embrace a renewed commitment to service delivery and operational efficiency.

Speaking after a weeklong strategy session with directors, project heads, and leaders of specialized units, Comrade Ango emphasized the importance of teamwork, urgency, and dedication in fulfilling the Secretariat’s mandate.

As part of his immediate action plan, Ango ordered comprehensive assessments of abattoirs, veterinary clinics, and farm infrastructure across the Territory. He also directed the swift distribution of seeds, fertilizers, and farming equipment to farmers ahead of the rainy season.

“We must move fast, work smart, and show total dedication,” Ango said. “Our farmers are counting on us. The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu must be seen in our work.”

In addition, he outlined initiatives to empower Agricultural Extension Agents through training and the provision of modern tools. He also stressed the need to strengthen partnerships with public and private sector players to boost agribusiness investments throughout the FCT.

To further drive implementation, Ango announced plans to embark on a facility tour of Area Councils. During the tour, he will engage directly with farmers, stakeholders, and development partners to accelerate the delivery of agricultural programs.

Staff of the Secretariat welcomed the new leadership with enthusiasm, pledging their full support and commitment to achieving greater service delivery.
