The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has launched the National Integrated Childhood TB/HIV Testing Week in Abuja to close detection and treatment gaps. The programme, which runs from September 22–28, 2025, will cover all six Area Councils.
She explained that the testing drive will ensure early diagnosis, free treatment, and reduced stigma, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the advocacy of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.
Programme Manager, Dr. Garba Abdulazeez, said no child will be left behind, stressing that teams will reach schools, communities, and underserved areas. He warned that delayed diagnosis fuels the spread of TB within families and communities.
Partners including WHO, IHVN, and AFH pledged support for the initiative, aimed at meeting Nigeria’s 15% childhood TB detection target.
