The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have outlined plans to tackle persistent flooding and traffic congestion along the Nyanya–Mararaba axis of the FCT.
FRSC Sector Commander, CC Felix N. Theman, during a visit to FERMA headquarters, blamed the chaotic gridlock on blocked drains, reckless motorcycle riders, and motorists driving against traffic, especially at rush hours.
FERMA’s spokesperson, Mrs. Maryam M. Sanusi, said the agency will prioritise drainage works and desilting from Sharp Corner through the building materials market to Mararaba bridge, where erosion and flooding have damaged the road shoulders.
Both agencies pledged close collaboration to improve safety, restore order, and ease the daily commute for residents.
