Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have dismantled a “one-chance” syndicate, killing one suspect and arresting six others in a coordinated operation.

Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh said in a Saturday statement that the gang’s dark grey Toyota Corolla and several stolen items were recovered.

The operation began on Wednesday when officers on patrol along the Kubwa Expressway saw a woman, later identified as Angel Patrick, pushed out of a moving vehicle. She was rescued and taken to Zankwochi Hospital, Mabushi, for treatment.

An undercover police team trailed the fleeing gang to Aso, Mararaba (Nasarawa State), where a gun battle ensued. Suspects Daniel Benson, Uche Thomas, and Tope Ola (all from Mpape) and Jude Simon from Mararaba were arrested, while one suspect was fatally shot and confirmed dead at Asokoro General Hospital.

Investigations revealed another suspect, John Simon, had been arrested in December 2024 for a similar offence and remanded in Kuje Prison.

Items recovered included six ATM cards linked to victims, a jackknife, ₦115,000 cash, and other stolen belongings. The suspects admitted to being long-time “one-chance” operators in the FCT.
