The National Assembly has suspended all legislative activities until July 22, 2025, in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement on Monday, the Clerk to the Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, said the suspension was approved by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas to allow lawmakers participate in Buhari’s funeral.
All plenary sessions, committee meetings, and oversight duties will remain on hold throughout the mourning period.
Buhari, who died in a London clinic on Sunday, will be buried on Tuesday, July 15, in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State. The National Assembly extended its condolences to the former president’s family and prayed for his peaceful rest.
