The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has assured the Apo Mechanics and Traders Association of the Administration’s commitment to a smooth relocation to a new, modern site in Wasa District.
During a meeting held at the Apo Mechanic Village on June 20, 2025, Wike emphasized that the move is not to evict traders but to provide a better, organized, and safer business environment. He highlighted that the new site will feature essential infrastructure, including roads, electricity, water, and designated trade zones.
He praised the traders for their contributions to the local economy and directed FCTA and FCDA officials to fast-track development at Wasa and involve traders in the relocation process.
The association expressed gratitude for the Minister’s visit and promised continued cooperation. The relocation plan, which has lingered for over 20 years, is part of the FCTA’s wider goal to reduce congestion, restore order, and support proper urban development.
Also in attendance were AMAC Chairman Christopher Maikalangu, former Senator Philip Aduda, FCDA Executive Secretary Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, and senior FCTA officials.
