The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned four Chinese nationals and one Nigerian before Justice Aliyu Halilu on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. The suspects face a three-count charge of conspiracy, cheating, and impersonation.

The first count alleges that LIU ZHIWEI, CHEN YE QUI, ZHANG XIAO WEN, LAN SHUN BIN, and NWAKAMA CHINYERE OGBONNA (a.k.a Haron Koshear) conspired in December 2024 to commit fraud. They reportedly used a fictitious picture and sent chats via Telegram to promote London hotels as five-star establishments, charging $5 for false ratings.

The second count specifically targets NWAKAMA CHINYERE OGBONNA. She is accused of falsely representing herself as a customer service representative from Venus Spark Impact Media to promote the Nox Edgware Road as a five-star hotel, knowing it was not.

The charges are brought under Sections 96(1)(a) and 321 of the Penal Code, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (Abuja), 1990. If convicted, the defendants could face significant legal consequences for their alleged fraudulent activities.
