FCT Security Raid: Three Robbers Killed, AK-47 Recovered

Abuja, Nigeria – February 20, 2025 – Security operatives in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have successfully neutralized three suspected armed robbers during a coordinated raid, recovering an AK-47 rifle and other incriminating items.

According to a statement released by the FCT Police Command, the operation took place in the early hours of Tuesday following credible intelligence on the hideout of a notorious gang responsible for a series of violent robberies in the capital city.

Police spokesperson DSP Amina Lawal stated that upon approaching the hideout, the suspects opened fire on the security personnel, prompting a swift and decisive response. “The officers engaged the suspects in a fierce gun battle, leading to the neutralization of three of them, while others managed to escape with gunshot wounds,” she said.

Recovered from the scene were an AK-47 rifle, multiple rounds of ammunition, and stolen valuables belonging to victims of recent attacks. Lawal further reassured residents that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing gang members and curb criminal activities in the FCT.

“We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency. The FCT Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of all residents,” she added.

Eyewitnesses in the area commended the security operatives for their swift action, expressing relief over the crackdown on criminal elements that have terrorized the region in recent weeks.

This raid comes amid intensified efforts by security agencies to combat crime in the nation’s capital, with increased surveillance and intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks.

Residents are encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement authorities and provide useful information that can aid in ensuring a safer environment for all.
