FCTA Places High Premium On Well Being Of Retirees-Dir

Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has expressed its concern over the lives of its retirees and that it places high premium on their well being.

The Director, FCT Pension Department, Mr. Rotimi Ajayi, gave this assurance in Abuja during a 3-day in-house workshop on personal hygiene and well being organised for the FCTA retirees.

The Director said that the programme was organized by the discovery that most pensioners are not healthy and have lost contact with one another, therefore, the workshop was to present an avenue for a reconnect among the retirees and at the same time to offer them knowledge on ways to improve their personal health.

Ajayi revealed that the workshop, which was in partnership with some non-government organizations had participants drawn from both the old and contributory pension schemes.

He remarked that the programme was conceived in line with the core mandate of FCT Pension Department, which is promoting the welfare of pensioners.

Ajayi appreciated the FCT Administration for its support for the Department and for its commitment towards the welfare of pensioners.

His words: “This, no doubt, has resulted in timely release of their benefits before the 28th of every month.”

In his presentation, Barrister Edebo of Edebo Consulting Nigeria Limited took the participants on basic life support, aimed at equiping them with the knowledge that would enable them to save lives during emergencies.

Aside some of the participants, who are healthcare professionals that spoke on health tips too, the Consultant educated the forum on health habits for healthy living and longevity.

Making presentation on healthy ageing and wellness, a Consultant Public Health Physician, Dr. Aderonke Akande, urged participants to imbibe healthy habits that would help them age well.

The Participants, who spoke to Abuja Digest expressed their appreciation to FCTA for the programme and its efforts towards improving the lives of retirees.
