Tragedy struck in Abuja as a young woman from Ekaida in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State was found dead after falling victim to suspected “one chance” criminals.

Her body was discovered along Abubakar Street, off Alex Ekwueme Street in the Jabi area of the Federal Capital Territory.

According to Adanu Andrew, who identified the deceased, she was abducted while returning from work. “She is our daughter from Ekaida, Agatu LGA. She was picked up by ‘one chance’ criminals yesterday on her way home,” he said.

He revealed that her abductors had demanded a ransom of one million naira, and the family was already making arrangements for her release when they saw news of her death circulating on social media.

Describing the young woman as disciplined and hardworking, Andrew expressed heartbreak over her tragic end. “She was genuinely hustling to put food on her table. Sadly, she fell victim to the wickedness of people who are desperate to make money at any cost,” he added.

The incident adds to growing concerns over insecurity and the activities of “one chance” operators in Abuja. Residents continue to call on authorities to intensify efforts in tackling these crimes.
