The FCDA staff member who allegedly leaked documents exposing massive land allocations to the son of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has now been slammed with an official query just days after spending over a week in detention.
The whistleblower, whose name is being withheld for security reasons, reportedly spent eight days in custody following the leak of documents that suggested Minister Wike had allocated more than 1,700 hectares of Abuja land to his first son. Further reports also linked additional land deals to his second son.
After being released from detention, the staffer received a formal query from the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), accusing him of leaking official information and misconduct.
The move has sparked outrage among civil society groups and rights activists, who see it as a clear case of retaliation and intimidation.
“Instead of investigating the serious allegations, the government is going after the person who brought them to light,” a rights advocate told reporters in Abuja. “This is deeply troubling.”
Wike has consistently denied the allegations, describing them as false and politically motivated.
But critics say the handling of the whistleblower’s case sends a dangerous message about transparency and accountability in the FCT.
