In an effort to uplift underprivileged women in rural communities, Bright Obasi, a devoted humanitarian and founder of The Sunbeam Foundation, continues to bring hope through impactful skill acquisition programs.
At a recent empowerment event held in a remote area on the outskirts of Abuja, Obasi underscored the need to equip women with practical skills that can help them escape poverty. The outreach offered training in tailoring, soap making, bead crafting, and small-scale agribusiness.
“We’re not just giving handouts — we’re offering tools,” Obasi explained. “True empowerment means restoring dignity and giving people the means to shape their own future.”
Many of the participants, including widows and single mothers, shared heartfelt accounts of how the training has opened up new paths for earning a living and supporting their families. They expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to acquire sustainable skills.
This initiative is one of many by The Sunbeam Foundation aimed at fostering self-sufficiency and tackling rural poverty, with a strong focus on empowering women and young people.
