The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has transferred a large residential estate with 753 houses in Abuja to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

The estate was recovered by the EFCC from developers linked to fraud. EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede, during the handover, said the move is part of the commission’s duty to recover stolen public assets and return them for the benefit of Nigerians.

He explained that the estate was seized through legal processes and is now being handed over for use in addressing the country’s housing needs.

Housing Minister Ahmed Dangiwa received the property and said it will help provide affordable homes to Nigerians, especially low-income earners and civil servants. He thanked the EFCC and assured that the houses will be fairly distributed and properly managed.

This handover is seen as a step forward in the fight against corruption and in tackling Nigeria’s housing challenges at the same time.
