A mother in Abuja, Eunice Bright, is demanding justice and a DNA test after accusing a doctor of stealing one of her newborn twins during childbirth at Divine Reign Clinic in the Sauka area of the capital.
Eunice said multiple prenatal scans confirmed she was expecting twins, but following a cesarean section on June 11, 2022, the clinic only presented her with one baby, claiming the second had died at birth.
Suspicion grew months later when she reportedly saw a child strikingly identical to her son in the custody of the doctor’s wife, Mrs. Zeje. The child, she alleged, bore the same unique features—most notably, identical dreadlocks.
“He had the same dreadlocks. If not for their clothes, I would not know which was mine,” Eunice recounted.
Driven by doubt, she began visiting the doctor’s residence, observing the child and alleging signs of neglect. Her request for access to her hospital records was met with claims that the file had been destroyed.
Eunice’s legal counsel said that while the police initially showed interest in conducting a DNA test, the situation took a sharp turn when Eunice and her husband were instead charged with giving false information and defamation of character.
“Why file criminal charges before verifying the facts with a DNA test?” the lawyer questioned.
The case is now under investigation by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), as calls for a transparent and scientific resolution mount.
With growing public interest and pressure, one question remains at the heart of the matter: Where is Eunice’s other twin?
