Abuja, Nigeria – May 12, 2025
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has formally requested access to the Natural Resources Development Fund (NRDF) to support key development projects across Abuja and its surrounding areas.
This request was made through the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), as part of ongoing efforts to boost infrastructure and agricultural development in the nation’s capital.
Speaking on the proposal, officials from the FCTA emphasized that access to the fund would accelerate ongoing efforts to bridge infrastructure gaps and promote sustainable development in both urban and rural parts of the FCT. The administration highlighted several priority areas, including road construction, water supply projects, erosion control, and agricultural programs aimed at improving food security.
The NRDF, which is managed by the federal government, is designed to support development initiatives across the country using earnings derived from natural resources. FCTA’s request marks a significant push to ensure that the capital city benefits from these national resources, especially in light of growing population demands and urban expansion.
The RMAFC is expected to review the request in the coming weeks, after which a decision will be made regarding fund disbursement.
This move follows a series of major federal approvals and investments in the FCT, including recent infrastructure funding worth over ₦400 billion.
