In a landmark move, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has pledged to end all forms of violence against children in Abuja by 2030 through the adoption of the internationally acclaimed Pathfinding Model.

Announced by Mrs. Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, Mandate Secretary of the FCT Women Affairs Secretariat, at a ministerial meeting in Abuja, the strategy includes launching the FCT Community Network for Ending Violence Against Children—a multi-sectoral platform engaging health, education, justice, and community stakeholders.

Describing the initiative as part of Minister Nyesom Wike’s broader human capital agenda, Benjamins-Laniyi emphasized that child protection is both a moral duty and a smart economic investment.

Marking ten years since the FCT adopted the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act, the call to fully implement the law and include children in policymaking was renewed.

The event also featured the launch of the “Investment Case Toolkit” by the UN, aimed at helping governments strengthen financial support to combat child abuse. The FCT is now positioning itself as a regional leader in child-focused governance.
