The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is calling for the use of verified data to enhance the impact of its agriculture programmes and ensure food security in the region.
During a visit to the FCT Fadama CARES Project office in Gwagwalada, Mandate Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Ango Abdullahi Suleman, emphasized the need to ensure that only genuine smallholder farmers benefit from government interventions.
“We must get the data right. That’s the only way to make our efforts count and reach those who truly need the support,” Suleman stated.
He expressed concern over the recurring food insecurity challenges despite past interventions and called on the Fadama project team to improve data collection and targeting systems to guarantee transparency and measurable results.
In response, Project Coordinator Philip Ojokojo assured that the second phase of the programme will see a more accurate and wider-reaching rollout, addressing earlier gaps and improving outcomes.
