The Federal Government has announced plans to launch a digital ethics portal by the end of 2025 to streamline health research approvals and bring Nigeria in line with global standards.
Unveiled during a stakeholders’ workshop in Abuja, the new platform will allow researchers to submit proposals, make payments, and track the status of their reviews entirely online.
Pilot testing of the portal is expected to begin ahead of its full deployment in the third quarter of next year.
Supported by the Gates Foundation and other international partners, the project aims to remove bureaucratic delays, improve transparency, and boost Nigeria’s appeal for global research collaborations.
