Thousands of Nigerian workers on Monday converged at Eagle Square, Abuja, to mark the 2025 International Workers’ Day, joining millions around the world in honouring labour and promoting workers’ rights.

The rally, jointly organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), featured a large turnout of workers from various sectors including health, education, transportation, and public service.
The event was marked by displays of solidarity, speeches, and placard messages calling for better welfare, increased minimum wage, and improved working conditions.
Past and current leaders of both the NLC and TUC were present, along with representatives from affiliated unions, who used the occasion to reflect on the gains and challenges of the Nigerian workforce.
The celebration also served as a platform to press home demands for policy reforms, accountability, and economic justice as workers nationwide continue to push for a fairer labour system.
