Abuja – The Federal Government has initiated the clearance of outstanding wage award arrears for public sector workers, according to a statement from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF).
The arrears, covering five months, will be disbursed in monthly instalments of ₦35,000, with the first payment set to follow the April 2025 salary.
“This move reflects the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare and its promise to settle all wage obligations,” the OAGF stated.
It added that a previous five-month wage award had already been partially settled, noting that the latest payments are part of efforts to restore confidence and motivation across the civil service.
“We believe timely payment of these arrears will help boost morale and drive greater efficiency in the public service,” the statement concluded.
The initiative comes amid calls from labour unions for sustained improvements in compensation and cost-of-living support for Nigerian workers.
