The Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), FCT chapter, Abdullahi Shafa, who led a protest on Tuesday, has acknowledged the intervention of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, in addressing the ongoing teachers’ strike.
Shafa confirmed the release of N4.1 billion to the area councils for the payment of the striking teachers.
However, he accused the area council chairmen of diverting the allocated funds.
He therefore called on the National Assembly and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the alleged misappropriation and ensure the responsible parties are held accountable.
