The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a warning to Abuja residents about the increasing prevalence of land scams, urging caution before purchasing any property. This alert follows the arrest of Nwobo Williams Chibuike, a suspected serial fraudster accused of deceiving buyers into acquiring non-existent plots through the use of fake identities and bogus companies.

Chibuike reportedly targeted unsuspecting victims with enticing offers in areas such as Kurudu, Sabon Lugbe East Extension, Kpeyegyi, and Jikoyi Village Extension, presenting forged documents to facilitate these fraudulent transactions.

In light of these developments, the EFCC is advising the public to thoroughly verify land titles and ownership details with relevant authorities prior to making any payments. The agency emphasized that exercising caution and due diligence is crucial to prevent financial loss and emotional distress.

This incident highlights the urgent need for vigilance among individuals seeking to invest in property in the capital, as the risk of land fraud continues to rise.
