In a collaborative effort to promote food safety and public health, the Rotary Clubs in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) have carried out a sensitisation campaign at Wuse Market, focusing on best practices for beans preservation.
The outreach, which drew the attention of numerous traders, highlighted the dangers of using harmful chemicals such as sniper and other pesticides in food storage. Experts from the AEPB educated market sellers on healthier, safer alternatives for preserving beans, stressing the need to protect both consumer health and business integrity.
Speaking during the event, representatives of the Rotary Clubs emphasized the organisation’s commitment to supporting public health initiatives and fostering safer trading environments in Abuja’s markets.
The sensitisation campaign is part of a broader advocacy drive aimed at reducing food contamination risks and ensuring that agricultural products sold in the FCT meet health and safety standards.
Market leaders welcomed the initiative, pledging to work with their members to adopt the recommended practices for the benefit of their customers.
