FCT UBEB, EFCC Launch Integrity Clubs to Promote Transparency in Schools
The Federal Capital Territory Universal Basic Education Board (FCT UBEB) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have inaugurated Integrity Clubs in 10 public Junior Secondary Schools across the FCT. The initiative aims to instill integrity, transparency, and accountability among students.
The launch event took place at the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Digital Resource Centre in Abuja. It gathered key stakeholders and development partners to support the fight against corruption in schools.
Acting Executive Chairman of FCT UBEB, Dr. Alhassan Sule, praised EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, for his leadership. He described the initiative as a way to “immunize children against corruption” and promised to expand it to more FCT schools.
Sule stressed that education is a powerful tool against corruption. He expressed confidence that the Integrity Clubs will inspire students to uphold ethical values and become responsible leaders.
Representing EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede, Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, applauded the project. He emphasized its role in character building and empowering students to embrace honesty, diligence, and courage.
Olukoyede warned that corruption threatens national development and must be tackled collectively. He urged students to stay committed, saying, “Keep your eyes on the light that is shining and do not look back.”
To support the initiative, EFCC pledged to provide instructional materials, mentorship, and guidance. Schools were encouraged to engage members actively and submit regular reports on club activities.
With this effort, FCT UBEB and EFCC are fostering a new generation of students committed to ethical leadership and accountability, paving the way for a corruption-free future.
