The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced plans to provide dedicated space for the Amalgamated Union of Foodstuffs and Cattle Rearers in Dei-Dei Market.
Felix Amechi Obuah, Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), made this commitment during a meeting with representatives of the Union on Wednesday. He stated that the allocation of space, made at the Union’s request, would significantly enhance their service delivery and contribute to the economic growth of the territory due to its multiplier effect.
Obuah emphasized that the space allocation would come with the condition that cattle roaming the streets of Abuja must cease within two to three months. He urged the Union’s President to encourage members to keep cattle off the streets, as they obstruct traffic in the city and surrounding areas.
Comrade Mohammed Tahiru, National President of the Union, accepted the condition and expressed a willingness to collaborate with the AMMC and relevant authorities to ensure a peaceful and orderly trading environment. He also expressed gratitude to the Coordinator for his exceptional leadership and commitment to improving conditions for traders.
