
The newly appointed Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, has pledged to foster closer engagement with financial professionals while emphasizing ethics and core values in the accounting profession.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the PhD Accounting Class Elders Forum at the Treasury House in Abuja, Ogunjimi reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and collaboration in managing the nation’s treasury.
He urged accountants to uphold professional integrity in their respective offices, stressing that their contributions are vital to ensuring accountability in Nigeria’s financial system.
“I believe we know our core values, and we know our ethics. Let us continue to demonstrate that,” he stated.
Ogunjimi assured financial professionals that his administration would maintain an open-door policy, welcoming advice and recommendations to enhance the country’s financial management.
Expressing gratitude for the support he has received since assuming office, he reiterated his commitment to active stakeholder engagement.
“Thank you for identifying with me, and I will continue to identify with you,” he said.
His message resonated with the audience, reinforcing the need for collective responsibility in strengthening Nigeria’s financial governance.
“Whatever you can bring on board to help the Treasury is always welcome,” he added, urging accountants to remain steadfast in upholding professional standards.
Congratulating the new Accountant-General, the Chairman of the Elders Forum, PhD Students, Nasarawa State University, Alhaji Ibrahim Ali, described Ogunjimi’s appointment as a testament to his hard work, dedication, and expertise.
He noted that Ogunjimi’s PhD classmates have witnessed firsthand his perseverance and passion for excellence.
Ali further highlighted the AGF’s commitment to public service, integrity, and leadership, which has been evident throughout his career and in his elevation to his current role.
