House of Representatives Committee on Public Petition has threatened to issue a warrant of arrest on the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, Richard Dauda, for refusing to explain his role on the alleged contravention of the building code in the Federal Capital Territory,FCT.
This followed a petition to the committee regarding Plot AO9399 cadastral zone filed by the Chairman of the House Committee on Custom, Elder Leke Abejide.
In his reaction, the Chairman of the panel, Irom Etaba stated that his committee has resolved to dispense with the matter as soon as possible, wondering why the executive secretary chose to stay away from the hearing despite repeated invitations for him to come and explain things.
In his reaction, counsel to Abejide, Samuel Ajayi, in a chat with journalists, disclosed that he has filed a similar petition to the offices of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as well as the Director, Department of Development Control, Muktar Galadima.
“The petition we have before the House is in respect to a special appeal for the chairman’s swift intervention on a property at AO9399 cadestral zone contravening the building code of the FCT.
“We have a complaint in respect to a building going on there which trespassed into the rights of my client. We are urging the appropriate authority to take steps to address the issue.”
The committee explained that the arrest warrant on the executive secretary would become necessary if he fails to appear before the committee today (Thursday) to state his own side of the story.
