FCTA Empowers Indigent And Vulnerable People

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has empowered 25 persons with skills acquisition and starter packs.

Mandate Secretary, Social Development Secretariat, Ibrahim Aminu, presented the starter packs in Abuja at the end of the skills acquisition training.

The Mandate Secretary said that the skills acquisition training is aimed at empowering them to start a meaningful living.

He said that some of the equipment being presented are in the area of the skills acquisition which include Sewing Machines and Grinding Machines that are expected to serve as starter packs.

According to him, the training and presentation of starter packs are in line with the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He also said that the FCT Minister and the Minister of State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and Dr. Mariya Mahmoud respectively, are desirous of improving the well being of residents of the FCT.

His words: “The Administration is desirous to support and encourage every Nigerian including People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in order to realize their dreams and actualize their potentials towards living healthy, catering for themselves and by extension their relatives.”

“The gesture is a deliberate attempt to cushion the impact of current reforms that may affect the people,” the Mandate Secretary added.

He urged the beneficiaries of the empowerment programme to ensure that they maximize the opportunity and translate to become a major or alternative source of income generation and earning a decent living for themselves.

The Mandate Secretar, who was represented at the occasion by the Director of Administration in the Secretariat, Dr. Nasiru Shindali, called on spirited Nigerians and well-placed individuals to support PLWHA with either cash or kind so as to augment whatever the government is able to do;?stressing that the fight to eradicate the virus in the FCT must be a collective one.
