Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has significantly reshaped the face and landscape of the Federal Capital City, Abuja, through various infrastructural projects, according to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Speaking to journalists after an inspection tour of ongoing projects in Abuja, Wike highlighted several key developments, including the rehabilitation of the International Conference Centre, Abuja; the CN8 access road in Daki Biyu; the Court of Appeal Abuja Division Complex; an interchange on the Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX) at Katampe Hills; and the arterial road linking it with Mabushi District.
The Minister expressed satisfaction with the pace of work, noting that the projects are on track for completion ahead of President Tinubu’s second anniversary in May.
“You will be glad by the time these roads are opened and see what the landscape of the city will look like. One is happy that the contractors are doing well. On our part, we will make sure that we don’t fail, so they won’t have any excuses,” Wike stated.
He also revealed that his administration has successfully implemented almost 90 percent of the 2024 budget, emphasizing that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) remains within legal bounds, as the 2024 budget cycle has been extended until June 2025.
Addressing concerns about the replacement of vandalized manhole covers across Abuja, Wike refuted claims that the initiative had slowed down. He explained that the process requires procurement procedures, which take time, but assured that the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) is committed to replacing all vandalized manholes.
With these efforts, the Tinubu administration continues to drive infrastructural development in the capital city, reinforcing its commitment to urban renewal and modernization.
