
Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Receives Aflazero Delegation on Aflatoxin Detection Technology
Abuja, Nigeria – The Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari CON, has welcomed a delegation from Aflazero, a leading organization in aflatoxin detection technology, at his office in Abuja. The meeting aimed to discuss innovative solutions for detecting and mitigating aflatoxin contamination in Nigeria’s food supply chain.
Aflatoxins, which are toxic substances produced by certain fungi in crops such as maize, groundnuts, and sorghum, pose serious health risks to consumers and economic challenges for farmers. The delegation from Aflazero presented their latest advancements in rapid and accurate aflatoxin detection, emphasizing their potential to enhance food safety and agricultural productivity in Nigeria.

Senator Kyari commended Aflazero’s efforts in developing cutting-edge solutions and reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring food safety through collaboration with key stakeholders. “Addressing aflatoxin contamination is a priority for the ministry, as it directly impacts public health, food security, and the export potential of our agricultural products,” the Minister stated.
During the discussions, Aflazero representatives highlighted their portable and cost-effective aflatoxin detection technology, which enables real-time screening of food products. They also expressed interest in working closely with the government, research institutions, and farmers to implement large-scale aflatoxin management programs.
The Minister assured the delegation of the government’s willingness to explore strategic partnerships to integrate Aflazero’s technology into Nigeria’s agricultural framework. He emphasized the importance of awareness campaigns, farmer education, and policy support in combating aflatoxin contamination effectively.
