
Worried by the plight of internally displaced persons (IDPs) across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), a property firm, Livebridge Properties, has provided free medical care, foodstuffs, and other essential supplies to affected persons.
The company, at event it organised for the demography in Karon Majiji camp, also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities as part of its corporate social responsibility.
The real estate and investment firm provided free medical care to over 1,000 residents, along with food and essential supplies to support children, women, and the elderly.
Speaking, Livebridge Group’s Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Nwaneri Obinna Flaker, emphasised the significance of corporate organisations stepping in to assist vulnerable communities, insisting that the government cannot carry the burden of IDPs alone.
“The government cannot handle this burden alone, which is why we have chosen to support this IDP camp as part of our CSR efforts is not just about personal celebrations; it’s also an opportunity to extend love to those in need.”
Highlighting the organisation’s priorities, he stressed the importance of aiding those who struggle to meet their most basic needs, particularly access to healthcare.
Also, a director at Livebridge Properties, Faith Nwaneri Obinna, who underscored the necessity of closing the gap between affluent and underprivileged communities, pointed out the role of women’s empowerment in breaking the cycle of poverty.
“When women are given the right skills and resources, they can generate income and provide for their families. The government should prioritise skill acquisition programs for women, as they have the ability to multiply whatever support they receive.”
On her part, Alice Ejembi, Head of Operations at the company, disclosed that similar outreach programs have been implemented in other IDP camps, including Kaura camp.
“It’s not just about providing food; we also offer free medical checkups, distribute essential supplies, and donate mobility aids like wheelchairs,” Ejembi noted.
During the event, Mohammed Danteni, Secretary to the Emir of Persons with Physical Challenges in Abuja, expressed his gratitude to Livebridge Properties for their generosity, applauding the firm for its unwavering support of the IDP community.
