The Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) has engaged 40 contractors to manage waste and sanitation across the Federal Capital City.

Director of AEPB, Mr. Osilama Braimah, confirmed in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that all contractors have been fully compensated for their services. The Board oversees waste management in key districts, including Maitama, Asokoro, Garki, and Wuse, among others.

Braimah emphasized AEPB’s role in city sanitation, sewage maintenance, and environmental law enforcement. He also noted that while contractors are responsible for refuse evacuation, the Board intervenes when necessary, adjusting payments accordingly.

He clarified that AEPB’s jurisdiction covers Abuja Municipal Area Council but excludes other area councils. The agency also addresses noise pollution from nightclubs and public spaces, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
