A former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has named the security hotspots in Abuja that Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, should take immediate action.
Ahmad listed districts like Wuse, Maitama, Asokoro, Garki and Central Business District as areas that are dangerous at night.
He tweeted on Sunday: “Dear @GovWike, Abuja is too dark, some spots in this city are naturally dangerous to be at night.
“The absence of adequate lighting on the streets of prominent districts such as Wuse, Maitama, Asokoro, Garki, and the Central Business District, etc is a matter that requires immediate action, Sir.”
DAILY POST reported that a former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, bemoaned the failure of the federal Government-particularly the previous administration to utilize the $460 million borrowed from China for the installation of CCTV cameras in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.
Sani was reacting to the recent surge in the activities of bandits who have been on rampage in the territory, killing and kidnapping unsuspecting citizens.
