eborah Ohamara, a presenter with Nigeria Info 95.1 FM, has been killed in a car crash along airport road, Abuja.

Speaking with TheCable, her colleague who asked to be anonymous, said the accident occurred on Saturday and involved a trailer and another car.

“It was a car accident. She was driving and another car pushed her into the trailer and she was crushed. She was taken to the hospital but she did not make it,” he said.

The colleague added that several news reports circulating online about the incident are not completely accurate.

Most of the reports online are not correct. Though there was a similar accident that happened along airport road on Monday and caused heavy traffic, it was not hers,” he added.

“Her accident happened on a Saturday morning. She was in coma and died yesterday around 3 pm.

“People are mistaking the accident that occurred on Monday to be hers. Although yesterday’s accident claimed the life of a woman as well, it was not Deborah.”

Nigeria Info 95.1 FM also confirmed Ohamara’s death on Monday in a post on Facebook.

“With a heavy heart, but with total submission to the will of God, we announce the passing of our dear colleague, sister and friend, Deborah Ohamara (Debbie), a brilliant and loved broadcaster with Nigeria Info Abuja,” the post reads.

The radio station also opened an online condolence register in honour of the late journalist.
