FCTA Launches Committee to Develop Grazing Reserves in Abuja
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has established a committee to oversee the development of grazing reserves in accordance with the presidential directive to end open grazing.
Mandate Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development, Comrade Abdullahi Suleiman Ango, who chairs the committee, said the move will help curb insecurity and provide modern facilities at reserves in Paikon Kore, Karshi, Rubochi, and Kawu.
The committee, which includes FCTA officials, traditional rulers, the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, and Miyetti Allah representatives, will review policies, assess infrastructure needs, and propose funding plans.
As its first task, members will visit the four reserves for on-the-ground assessments.
Mr Umar Haruna, Acting Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, was named Secretary of the Committee.
