The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has arrested a suspected impostor who disguised as a soldier to evade traffic checks in Abuja.
The man, dressed in a military uniform, was nabbed during a special operation by FRSC officers who had noticed inconsistencies in his conduct. He was handed over for further investigation.
The crackdown, carried out across several parts of the Federal Capital Territory, also saw 245 motorists convicted for violating different traffic laws. Offences ranged from dangerous driving and use of mobile phones behind the wheel to overloading, seatbelt violations, and expired documents.
FRSC officials said the operation was part of a wider effort to sanitise Abuja roads, reduce crashes, and instil discipline among drivers. The Corps Marshal warned that the agency would not tolerate lawlessness, stressing that anyone who flouts traffic regulations will face stiff penalties.
Residents have been urged to obey traffic rules, while commercial drivers were specifically reminded that safety should be prioritised over profit.
