Schools across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have fully resumed for the 2025/2026 academic session, recording about 90% turnout of students and teachers.

An inspection team from the FCT Education Secretariat visited several schools and observed that classes had already begun. At Government Science Technical College, Area 3, Principal James Musa Kuta said over 600 of the school’s 1,060 students had resumed, describing the turnout as encouraging. He also thanked the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for recent renovations that boosted morale among teachers and students.

Private schools also reported smooth resumption. At Pace Setters Academy, Wuye, Chairman Kenneth Imansuangbon commended the government for creating a supportive environment for schools and encouraged parents to continue investing in their children’s education despite economic pressures.

Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo represented by Permanent Secretary Mrs. Joy Chinwe Okeke said the turnout showed schools were fully back in session. She praised the learning environment created through recent government investments and urged parents whose children are yet to resume to send them back quickly.
