
Police confirmed on Wednesday that a 24-year-old woman, Kelechi Ebubechukwu, was found dead in her fiancé’s home. Gwagwalada, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), under mysterious circumstances.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who first reported the incident on X, initial police findings suggest Kelechi had been taking medication for malaria, and prescribed medications were found at the scene. Although no visible signs of violence were found on her body during a preliminary examination, the FCT Police Command has detained her fiancé as part of an ongoing investigation into the cause of death.
This case is the latest in a worrying series of incidents involving women who have died in their partners’ homes across Nigeria. In recent months, there have been several high-profile cases, including the death of 45-year-old Bankole Oginni’s ex-lover in Akure, Ondo State, which sparked concerns about such tragedies.
The FCT Police have not released further details, including autopsy results or potential charges, but are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to uncover the truth behind Kelechi’s death.
