The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has stopped over 30 illegal constructions at River Park Estate, Abuja, citing expired lease agreements and planning violations.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike had earlier set up committees to review the estate’s controversies. The panel, led by Barr. Salman Dako recommended that undeveloped plots revert to the FCTA, while valid customary titles with approved developments remain intact.

On Wednesday, enforcement officers led by Development Control Director Mukhtar Galadima moved in after reports that developers were working day and night to beat the directive. He confirmed that more than 30 foundations had already been dug, but warned they would all be covered.

“Any new illegal development will be removed, and prosecution may follow,” Galadima said.

Some residents, however, say they are already suffering. Pastor Chimdi Obwe alleged that Paulo Homes blocked his access road and demolished part of his fence, leaving him to trek to his home with his children.
