The Catholic Women Organization (CWO) at St. Benedict Parish in Lokogoma, Abuja, stepped up big time for local kids, handing out scholarships and school supplies to eight deserving students on September 6.
Under the leadership of CWO President Mrs. Gold Agbata, this was the fourth year of their back-to-school program, aimed at helping struggling families cover education costs and encouraging kids to excel in school.
Mrs. Rita Anyanwu Joseph, who headed the planning, shouted out the women who poured their hearts and cash into pulling it off. “Our members worked hard and gave generously to make this happen,” she said.
Three kids got full scholarships to cover their WAEC and NECO exam fees, while five others scored books and stationery. The women gave thanks to God and the Virgin Mary for making it all come together. “We felt divine guidance every step of the way,” Agbata said.
This effort is part of a bigger push across Nigeria to tackle education gaps, especially with families feeling the pinch from rising costs.
