One Killed in Kubwa Highway Trailer Crash, Traffic Grounded to Halt
A fatal trailer crash under the Galadima flyover on the Kubwa Highway has claimed one life and plunged the busy road into hours of gridlock.
Witnesses said the trailer lost control in the early hours, veered off course, and slammed into the bridge, trapping a victim. “It was a huge crash. People rushed to help, but sadly one person didn’t make it,” a resident recounted.
The wreck left traffic at a standstill, with frustrated commuters stranded for hours. Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the police, and other emergency teams worked to clear the scene and restore movement.
An FRSC official confirmed the casualty, noting that investigations were underway to determine the cause of the crash. He urged motorists to drive responsibly and obey traffic regulations to prevent similar tragedies.
The victim’s body has been deposited at a nearby hospital morgue, while efforts to remove the wrecked trailer were still ongoing at press time.
The Kubwa Highway, a major route connecting Abuja city to its suburbs, has recorded a string of deadly accidents in recent years, sparking growing calls for stricter safety enforcement.
