FCT Minister Nyesom Wike kicked off the distribution of 550 metric tonnes of fertilizers at half price to farmers across Abuja’s six area councils on Thursday. Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Chidi Amadi, Wike said the move is to boost food production and security, tying into President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“This is about helping farmers and keeping food prices in check,” Wike said, noting the fertilizers NPK, urea, and gels are timed for the farming season. He warned against misuse, ensuring only real farmers benefit.
Wike admitted the supply is limited but said partnerships with groups like the World Bank are training farmers and improving practices. Agriculture Secretary Ango Abdullahi added that 3,500 knapsack sprayers are also being handed out to support the growing population’s food needs.
