The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has promoted 49 senior staff after its maiden computer-based promotion test, approved by Minister Nyesom Wike.

Held on August 12, 2025, at the National Open University Centre in Dutse-Alhaji, the exam cleared pending promotions from 2023 to 2025.

The Education Cadre led with 20 new directors, followed by nine from Accounts, while Civil Engineering, Social Welfare, Tourism, Fisheries, and Medicine each produced one.

FCT Civil Service Commission Chairman, Emeka Eze, said the process was highly competitive, with 820 Education Officers competing for 20 slots. The Commission pegged the pass mark at 60% to ensure merit-based selection.

Minister’s aide, Lere Olayinka, described the move as a break from patronage, saying the transparent exercise sets a new standard where “competence, not connections, defines leadership.”
