Top military leaders from 35 African nations are arriving in Abuja for the maiden African Chiefs of Defence Staff (CDS) Summit, which officially opens on Monday, August 25.
Congo Brazzaville’s delegation was the first to arrive, signalling the start of a three-day gathering expected to shape Africa’s collective security agenda.
The summit will provide a rare forum for defence chiefs to share strategies on tackling terrorism, insurgency, banditry, piracy, and other security threats that cut across national borders.
Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, is hosting the event, which will also attract regional partners and security stakeholders working to build stronger cooperation across the continent.
