Nigeria is reinforcing its non-kinetic approach to combating insurgency through a new partnership between the Office for Strategic Preparedness and Resilience (OSPRE) and Operation Safe Corridor (OPSC).

The Memorandum of Understanding, signed by OSPRE Director-General Chris Ngwodo and OPSC Coordinator Brig.-Gen. Yusuf Ali, will standardize disarmament, deradicalization, rehabilitation, and reintegration (DDRR) processes, with OPSC’s Gombe State facility serving as a central hub.

Ngwodo stressed that modern security challenges demand strategies beyond traditional warfare, focusing on tools tailored for asymmetrical threats. The alliance will prioritize post-conflict recovery, victim-centered justice, trauma support, transitional and restorative justice, and capacity building for security forces.

By merging OSPRE’s strategic expertise with OPSC’s operational experience, the initiative seeks to dismantle cycles of violence and promote sustainable reintegrationaddressing both the needs of affected communities and the root causes of extremism.
