The Federal Capital Territory Administration has approved 915 senior officers for Nigeria’s first computer-based promotion examinations, breaking new ground in public service reforms.
The digital tests, held at the Public Service Institute in Dutse Alhaji, covered staff from education boards and other FCT agencies under the Civil Service Commission’s oversight.
Commission Chairman Emeka Eze said the system backs Minister Nyesom Wike’s effort to resolve promotion delays, with President Tinubu’s approval. Results will be released within one week to ensure fairness.
Staff verification uncovered widespread age fraud, forcing several retirements, Eze revealed.
Commission member Martins Azubuike noted the system demands computer skills. “Without digital literacy, officers cannot complete tests merit will determine advancement,” he said.
The initiative sets a national standard for transparent, technology-driven government promotions.
