The Federal Capital Territory Administration has denied demolishing Panorama Recreational Park in Wuse Zone 3, Abuja, stating that only surrounding shanties were cleared.
FCT Director of Development Control, Muktar Galadima, made this clarification Monday after a sanitation exercise at UTC in Garki.
Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communication, Lere Olayinka, explained that shanties around Jazz and Blues Entertainment and Panorama Recreational Park were demolished due to evidence of criminal activities linked to organized networks in the area.
Galadima confirmed that proper demolition notices were issued from October 2023 through February 2025, and emphasized that some park facilities remain intact.
The demolition was part of the administration’s ongoing effort to eliminate criminal hideouts across Abuja, particularly in areas identified by security agencies as safe havens for criminal activities.
