The Federal Government has warned 198 LGAs across 30 states to prepare for possible severe flooding in the coming weeks.
Water Resources Minister Joseph Utsev, presenting the 2025 Annual Flood Outlook, said above-average rainfall and river overflow could trigger high-risk flooding between August and October.
States are urged to clear drainages, reinforce embankments, and relocate residents in danger zones, while farmers adopt climate-smart practices. Emergency agencies are also on standby for quick response.
